City Walk and Ceremony of the Keys at the Tower

Thursday 14 September | 6.45pm - 10.00pm | Tower of London

The Ceremony of the Keys is London’s most theatrical and historic daily ceremony. For over 700 years, this epic event has taken place every night without fail at the Tower of London. With great aplomb – and in full Tudor Watchcoat uniform - the Chief Yeoman Warder meets other members of the Tower of London Guard to officially lock up the Tower and sound the Last Post. Only a few privileged people can witness this special ceremony and with tickets booked up months in advance we are thrilled to offer you a spot on this Art History UK tour.

To contextualise this event, we’ll start the night with a walk through the ancient streets of the City, bursting at the seams with history, architecture, and tales of fabulous characters from the long-distant past. To get us in the mood we’ll start with a pie and a pint at the Counting House in the City* (for those who can make it) before going on a City walk ending at the Tower. The Ceremony of the Keys begins at 9.30pm and will end promptly at 22.05pm.

*Please note that the price does not include the cost of dinner

Meet at the Counting House, 50 Cornhill, London EC3V 3PD

A huge thanks from us for helping make last night’s event so special. We are getting such positive feedback from all of the clients – some of the most glowing I’ve ever received. I was really impressed with everything you guys did so please pass on my thanks to your team as well for making it such a success.

My son Charlie and I were taken round the National Gallery by Rose Balston, and in three brief hours, we were inspired to levels of wonder. Rose has the gift of allowing you to discover things in the paintings that you would never have noticed before…I’d strongly recommend you join an Art History UK tour.
